EZseal configuration

EZseal SL

Shoe plate primary + Low profile secondary

A two-stage rim-seal configuration combining the EZseal S primary mechanism with the EZseal L secondary system. Final geometry and materials are established from the actual tank and roof operating envelope.

Schematic of an EZseal primary and secondary rim seal configuration
Design intent

The code identifies the mechanism. The tank still decides the design.

A metallic shoe remains in controlled contact with the tank shell while the vapour barrier closes the rim space. The arrangement can be engineered for a wide rim-space operating envelope and can incorporate a dedicated stainless-steel wax-scraper detail for heavy or wax-forming products.

The secondary system is kept deliberately low to reduce the vertical space consumed above the roof rim. The geometry is selected together with the primary seal, shell details and roof obstructions so that working capacity is not sacrificed unnecessarily.

Engineering priorities

What the design has to get right.

01

Primary — S

Liquid-mounted metallic shoe plate primary seal.

02

Secondary — L

Low-height secondary seal for maximum usable tank envelope.

03

Working envelope

Minimum, nominal and maximum rim space are checked against shell condition and roof movement.

04

Project materials

Metal, fabric and polymer selections are matched to product service, temperature and the project specification.

Low profile

The secondary system is kept deliberately low to reduce the vertical space consumed above the roof rim. The geometry is selected together with the primary seal, shell details and roof obstructions so that working capacity is not sacrificed unnecessarily.

Scope

Where this combination starts

  • Broad rim-space movement, robust shell contact and applications where a proven mechanical primary seal is preferred.
  • Tanks where operating height, roof clearance or working capacity is a key design constraint.
  • Rim-space survey and shell-condition review before final geometry is released
  • Vapour barrier, shunts / bonding and installation details selected per project
  • Wax-scraper or special shell-contact details added only where the service requires them
Inputs

Selection checks

  • Floating-roof type and rim construction
  • Measured rim-space distribution and expected movement
  • Shell welds, protrusions, corrosion and out-of-roundness
  • Stored product and material compatibility
  • Available height and potential roof / seal interference
  • Weather exposure, fire protection and inspection requirements
Standards & project basis

Designed from the application, then checked against the code.

EZseal configuration codes describe mechanical families, not pre-approved universal designs. Final selection and dimensions are project-specific and checked against the applicable tank, emissions and fire-safety basis.

Application review
